The Farm Table

This weekend I headed to Blowing Rock for a weekend getaway with my girlfriends. We were celebrating the last single days of our friend Whitney before she heads down the aisle.
The Girls!

Me and the Bride ! Love this Lady !

Now while I was off in the mountains enjoying wine, laughs, shopping, and eating; Wes was hard at work building our farm table. When I left on Friday this is what had been done so far:

When I came home on Sunday afternoon - this is what was in our dining room:
I was ECSTATIC! I could not believe the table was completed and looks this amazing. It is GORGEOUS. Wes did an AMAZING job. We stained the table last night and all we have left to do is put on the polyurethane for some shine.

Love Love Love.

Finishing Touches

The bench is complete! However, I am not sold on my painting job. I might just sand the puppy down and start again. I don't know ... I am going to give it a couple of weeks and see if it grows on me.

Bathing in Style - How I spent my Labor Day

Let me begin by telling y'all - I hate to paint. I am an ADD child and anything that requires multiple steps and forcing one to pay attention for an extended period of time is not my thing. Hence - painting - not my thing. All the taping / priming / painting ( and painting at least 2 coats - seriously?!) bah so frustrating. However, our bathroom needed a paint job very badly - the yellow painted over the hot pink was just not cutting it. See below:

That hot pink was behind a cabinet that we took down - I mean when has pepto bismol ever been a popular color ? Just wondering. Anywho as it turns out ADD children can paint bathrooms ... it just might take close 8 hours.

The Adventure Begins

Our story begins with a bench.

A bench? Yes a bench. Our story begins with this bench.

I fell in love with this bench (I mean clearly the reason why Pottery Barn created this bench was to go at the end of our bed, right?) and after asking if I could have said bench - I was told the following. "Absolutely not." And "Are you crazy - $200! I can build you that bench." Which I said - "Wait you can build me that bench?" And so it begin - Wes, became Bob the Builder, and my lists of home projects / building projects started to take place.

Which worked well for us ... being that when moved into our character filled home, we started from scratch. Which brings me to another point in our adventure. Our home is said to have "character" which I have come to find out means - a big ol hot mess. I give to you example numero uno. We were given a new refrigerator when we moved in. As I was putting / arranging things in our new refrigerator, I noticed the shelves were slanted. At first I thought it was the shelf ... then I realized it was the frig.... then I realized it was the floor. Our kitchen has a gentle downhill slope, causing our frig to be on a downhill slope. Thank goodness for adjustable legs.

We have been in our not so new home but new for us home for about four weeks now. Lot of projects have taken place and of course many more are in the works. I will be sure to post our latest projects so you can see how we are coming along. We are hoping to have the majority of the projects done by December. Nothing like a little timeline to keep one on pace.

Here is a list of what is coming up
The infamous bench
A farm table
Half a wall to cover up a heinous see through art deco gone wrong project (pictures to follow)
Painting - bathroom, bedrooms, living room
